Livermore Valley is a California AVA established in 1982 under 27 CFR Part 9, located in the southeastern Diablo Range of Alameda County east of the San Francisco Bay. It is historically significant as one of California's earliest established wine regions. The appellation receives cooling afternoon winds through the Altamont Pass, and Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon appear prominently in COLA filings.
