Lake Erie
American Viticultural AreaEstablished 1983
Lake Erie is a multi-state AVA established in 1983 under 27 CFR Part 9, spanning the southern shoreline of Lake Erie across portions of New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The lake's thermal mass moderates winter temperatures and extends the growing season, creating conditions for both native and vinifera varieties. It is among the largest wine-producing appellations in the northeastern United States by planted acreage.
